Reflections

This is a reflection on all the projects I’ve done so far as a Senior in Design at freestyle. A lot of these projects were completely new styles to me which i had never even heard of before. Learning about new styles and experimenting with my own, I learned a lot more about myself as an artist. which styles i’m more and less confident in, how I am able to inspire myself when I feel like I have no ideas. Below are the projects I’ve made this year so far. Projects from both Design and Digital media:

Mandala

This is my finished Mandala project “The Wonders Of Life”. I wanted to name it this because i included many smaller details in my artwork that are symbols of things i love. For example the guitars and pianos, my love of music. The mountains and Flowers, my love of nature. Many pieces of me are in this piece which make it even more special to me.

Colored Mandala

This is “below the surface”. I chose this name because while i was drawing this mandala it started to feel like i was drawing the inner layer of the earth beneath the crust. Hot, Fire, Lava. This Project was a lot of fun because I could draw what ever I wanted. I sat down and just let my mind wonder. This is what I ended up with.

Summer Collage

Public Service Announcement

This is my PSA project I wanted to emphasize to the viewer whoever it may be, to know they are loved. They are important. That was my goal with this project to catch the viewers eyes with bright but welcoming colors and spread a meaningful message. The main part of this PSA is the brain. One side is clouded and struggling while the other is clear and smooth but surrounded by a heart and love. I also wanted to add a small bonus in the bottom right corner which is a QR code to the 998 suicide hotline website.

I made this by first searching for examples online. I first had no idea what I wanted to do but once I got a few ideas the sketch came naturally. Honestly this project was a big struggle for me because it never really ended up looking right to me. Otherwise I really love how it turned out and when i had issues with how it was looking I had a lot of help from people around me, giving me advice, and telling me how to improve my artwork which was really important.

Aboriginal Art

This Aboriginal piece was not only something new to me but was really fun to create. We were told to include aboriginal signs and astrological signs and symbols. Since I am an Aquarius I decided to include My Constellation in the background along with the astrological symbol for Aquarius. (Fun Fact; Many people commonly Mistake Aquarius as a water sign when it is actually an air sign!) I also added 2 aboriginal symbols one for the moon, and one for the stars.

I created this piece by first drawing the background making sure not to use too vibrant of colors as the aboriginal paintings would have looked like. I wanted to include more natural colors mainly blues, grays, and greens. Many aboriginal paintings include countless numbers of dots, so I tried to focus on including as many dots as i could, but also experimenting with different patterns and designs.
