Research Paper

For English class at the beginning of the year, we had to research a topic that interested us and had to come up with an argument for it. I decided to research the usefulness about posting about missing people online, and if it’s better or worse than physical ones you find on telephone poles or under street signs. I learned that it is useful and very helpful for finding the missing person.

Surreal Composition

This assignment was to make a surreal composition of photos using Photoshop. But it also had to tie into our research paper we did in English. Since my paper was about missing people, I thought, in a fictional world, where do people go when they’re forgotten? Or when they go missing and can’t be found? This was mostly inspired by the Void from The Amazing World of Gumball and also The World of Mr. Plant. We were starting our Worldbuilding project soon, and I wanted to include a hint at some of my ideas, so I added Samantha Huston (my character’s name is Sam), the little girl in front of the pink house in the background. This is a real girl who was staying at the Driskill Hotel when she died from falling down the stairs. Samantha is said to haunt the hotel on the floor her portrait is, who’s face has mysteriously turned green over time.

Digital Media

Funny Images

In Digital Media, we were practicing how to put two or more images together and make it look like they belong. For the first one, I took a picture of Baby Bill Cipher, from The Book of Bill by Alex Hirsch, and stuck him in the backrooms. For the second image, I took some internet-famous cat memes and put them all together. Maxwell is giving his friends Bingus the hairless cat and Kevin with her awesome mohawk a ride.

Multi-Layer Art Project

This is my multi-layer art project. It is a light box showing a scene from the Worldbuilding project. Sam looks up at the night sky, and wishes she was with her mom, named Iris. Sam was left behind when half of the planet was evacuated. Iris evacuated but Sam was unable.

Design

Cursive Name Art

Product Logo, Label, Triptych

I wanted to make a design for a hair color brand, because every logo that I’ve seen is super boring and makes me think that whoever made the design was not thinking about how creative you can be with hair color. So I made a logo that highlights the creativity of coloring your hair.

Movie Poster

This was based off of the Worldbuilding project. I worked alongside Val V, Deepa B, and Dhrithi V. In our story there is a flower that allows you to communicate with spirits by pricking yourself with its thorn. We decided to name our story “Silvarum” which means “of the trees” or “overgrown forest” in Latin. Earth is covered in overgrown and mutated plants in our story.

Book Jacket

This was also based off of the Worldbuilding project. I wanted my book jacket to have a similar color palette to the poster. But I wanted a different illustration. I decided to draw the main antagonist of our story, Miss Smiley, who, in this illustration is taking off her mask and revealing what is under.
