Narrative 1

Introduction

In all of my freestyle classes over the last few months, I’ve had an incredible learning experience. Each subject, Design, English, and Digital Media, has demonstrated and taught me a great deal about both creative thinking and incorporating it into my artworks. Each class has a variety of tasks that are specific to what we learn in that subject. We’ve had a lot of minor projects as well as larger ones in Design. Some of the ones that I found more important and interesting were the creature that we built, which was a large project that was mind-blowing for me since it demonstrated how much I enjoy design and bringing the art in my head to reality. It showed me how every detail and how spectific art is. In this project I found my love for art. As well as some digital projects we made some hands on projects, like painting the refection of your name on a water color paper, and learning how to use watercolors. All these projects were a mixture of everything that defines design.

We studied poetry in English and read two novels, annotating the meanings of each chapter. We pondered a slew of difficult questions in response to what we read. “Read” and “1984” were the novels we read. Personally, I was more moved by the first novel we read, which was “read.” This book was written like a play, and we chose 3-5 readers to read different characters throughout the story. This made reading and comprehending the book a lot more pleasurable. We had numerous discussions regarding the book and the implications of what the author was stating.

In Digital Media we learned about multiple different adobe applications. The ones we used the most often were Photoshop, Premier Pro, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and Pro tools. All these applications taught us how to manipulate different effects on videos, photos, styles and more. Over all all these classes have taught me so much and I couldn’t be more grateful for this amazing learning experience.

Story

“Last Drop of Water” is a flash fiction piece about the drought and water scarcity that has plagued us for years. It’s also about having hope, encouragement, and the confidence to do what you want. I opted to write this narrative in the third person because it reveals no sides of the story, it tells the story itself, and it doesn’t need to describe the views of one or more people. The protagonist, Snashton, wants to demonstrate and share his courage and strength, as well as demonstrate that you must believe in yourself to achieve your goals, because in the narrative, the cloud lacks such strength, and Snashton is the one who demonstrates and explores this. When Snashton meets the cloud, the conflict becomes more complicated because he has hope for the future and what will happen, but when he finds that clouds cannot perform the things he thought they could, his optimism is broken. When Snashton has run out of hope and ideas, there is a point where nothing seems possible, where things aren’t going to work, and they all have to return to their old life and hope for the best until the notion of turning memories and hope into images comes to fruition. Finally, I decided to resolve the problem by instilling confidence and optimism in the cloud, causing it to rain and ending happily. Because I wanted my story to appear pleasant and optimistic, and because I believe that hoping and dreaming about anything should have a happy ending. My readers liked the concept of giving a character and life to a cloud that doesn’t have any emotions or life in real life, but they requested that I expand on some of the instances I’m explaining since they wanted more explanation. I was particularly influenced by George r r Tolkien because all of his novels and the stories he told in them actually give the audience a suspenseful and eye-grabber story.

Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is a vector-based design and drawing program for professionals. Illustrator may be used to create everything from single design elements to whole compositions when used as part of a wider design workflow. Illustrator is used by designers to make posters, symbols, logos, patterns, and icons, among other things. This tool have helped me in various ways., deign elements that I work on in my Design class as well has perfecting the skills and learning everyday more bout what I can create with this tool. Here are some of my art works that I have created on Illustrator.

I had many ideas of what I wanted Love to look like in an art piece and what came to my mind immediately was the smell what does Love smell like and feel like when you smell the scent and I thought of Chanel from that I thought of what Chanel represents and how can I put that into a piece of clothing. Then I wanted to represent love in an action and love is represented not by a kiss but the tension and the feeling of being close to someone. Then I put both of these things together and put them in a piece of art.
The struggles I faced during this process was the color of the woman’s lips and if I should do anything to the man’s outline I thought of it hard and decided to just put the color and the shapes on the woman’s lips.
This project has really taught me how to be creative and how to think outside of the box. I think that if I had more time I will try to find a way to show love through the man’s side. But I love how my piece turned out it was exactly how I imagined it.

Music

Throughout the project, I encountered numerous complications and problems. Finding the proper tune to play, writing my own lyrics, and finding the right phrases to match the tempo of all the lines in the original song were all part of the process. Everything had to be put together correctly so that the song could flow freely and without faults. It didn’t matter how I sounded; the song’s beat was more important. Then I had to record myself singing my own lyrics while listening to the original music. This was difficult because I had to chop out the original song’s words while singing my own personal lyrics at the same time. This project took time but in the end it was very fun to listen back to what I created and what I had made.

Design

In Design, we’ve worked on a variety of small and major projects. The creature that we developed, which was a massive project that was mind-blowing for me since it highlighted how much I enjoy design and bringing the creativity in my head to reality, was one of the ones that I thought more meaningful and interesting. It demonstrated the importance of every detail and the uniqueness of art. I discovered my passion for art through this endeavor. We also did some hands-on projects, such as painting a reflection of your name on watercolor paper and learning how to handle watercolors, in addition to some digital ones. All of these projects were a mash-up of the various elements that make up design.

Snashton

Snashton is a creature that represents a shy but adventurous imaginary creature that is formed with 5 different creatures that all have different meanings in their own way. The snakehead was to show strength, the wings of the bald eagle represent that Snashton is trustworthy, the horse legs represent determination, the body of the cricket shows the adventurous side and the tail of the dauphin is loving. The Color Scheme I chose was based on neutral colors and small splashes of blue to show small pop of color and represent shyness as well as confidence in things. You can take it in two different ways.

The assignment was to find 5 different mammals/animals and merge them to make a fantasy creature. My creature is based on the texture and the color in it, choosing how all the animals and colors blend together to create a story. My color scheme was based on a character that is adventurous but shy to show its true power. Beige and yellowish colors showed the shyness and the dullness in the creature but the small pops of color throughout the body demonstrate the life and sense of adventure that the creature has. I designed this in Illustrator, starting with the body of a cricket and continuing with the head, legs, wings, and tail; each body part took time and detail to show the texture and the “life” in it. I went in with the pen and drew a picture of each creature one by one, tracing each creature’s every detail. Once I had all of the body parts, I arranged them around the cricket, which is the major body component. To make it appear as if they all merged together, I used colors and mixing procedures. I finished the monster and added any more elements that I thought maybe improved before beginning my background. I began by considering all of the colors that might benefit my primary character, Snashton, testing them out before beginning to outline the various elements in my background. I began with the planet and gradually increased the number of strokes. I began with the planet and added many strokes to give texture, as well as deeper and lighter colors. The finished outcome was not at all what I had envisioned. I’m quite pleased with how my creature turned out. I believe I could have put more effort into my background, giving it more time and attention to detail, to make it as realistic as my creature.
