Who am I?

That is the question that I was constantly tasked with throughout this semester. In my first semester at Freestyle. I won’t lie this semester has been really tough, especially learning things while doing them. But throughout all of these challenges I have been able to find who I am and what I want to do. I’ve recently applied into art school and couldn’t be more excited. The skills I have learned in Freestyle will project me into my future schooling career and I couldn’t be happier to join such an artistic community.

Mandala

My first assignment in Freestyle was the Personal Mandala . Students were required to use Adobe Illustrator to portray their “Core Values”. Illustrator was my third ever Adobe app that I have used, so it took a while to get used to, but once I figured it out it was as easy as the rest of their applications.

Mandala Artist Statement

I think that the really cool part of the whole mandala process is the main building part. Having it reflect over 12 times in a circle creates a really interesting image in my head. It reminds me of those telescopes you get at a museum where beads, glass and fake crystals repeat themselves over and over to create a sort of mandala.

Photoshop Art Section

The photoshop art section came easier to me than the mandala. This unit we got to learn different ways to composite images on Adobe Photoshop, an application I have had some prior experience in. In Photoshop I feel like I am able to create whatever I want, and that is what I got to do. I got to create new worlds, doors, roads, everything. Which is why this has been my favorite unit.

Pastel Painting

This piece is a pastel painting of my favorite youtuber and specifically favorite video from him. I like his lighthearted comedy and public reactions. It just reminds me of simpler times when all I needed to worry about was a new Youtube video coming out.

behind the scenes

Watercolor Painting

bloody winter

This piece is inspired by an actual painting by my Dad. He went to a tequila and art class and somehow drew something that looked really good. The painting can have multiple different meanings, but I thought that it could represent how the world is slowly dying, causing a Bloody Winter.

Watercolor Painting Effect

made in photoshop

This tryptych is three watercolor effect images that I made. Each from places that are dear to my heart. Starting on the far left is the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, the middle is a rose from my home in Mountain View, and last is from my cousins wedding in Maryland.

Photoshop Compositing

Surreal Composition

This is my photoshop composition for the world I am building in English. It is a future where AI has taken over the world and infused with nature to wipe out the human race. In my piece I combined 4 photos to create what it might look like in my world.

College Personal Essay

I spent quite a while writing my personal essay to send to my colleges. I literally rewrote it like 5 times from scratch until I felt like it was good enough to send. I think that by spending so much time writing about myself really gave me the opportunity to find what I love. This entire unit has helped me figure out who I really am in life. Link

Reflections Video Essay

This was my first film assignment. I found it difficult finding something that I was comfortable talking to everyone about. That was my nails. I bite them a lot, I don’t really know why, but I get really nervous and it just happens. I had to do everything by myself on my small laptop at my house, and I thought that it turned out just how I wanted it.
