Introduction
In this unit we were tasked to create multiple sorts of documentaries throughout different types of media. For english, we had to write a profile about someone in our community. In film, I made an expository documentary about a surgeon. And in digital media, we had to create a fully designed magazine article for our english profile.
English Documentary
This project was my first experience in making a documentary-style project. The assignment was to create a Profile which is essentially a documentary about 1 person. The first thing I did was select a person to interview and I decided to interview a scientist at IR2 SLAC. He did some amazing things and I wanted to talk about him, so I reached out about an interview and he said yes!
Then I did the interview. Interviewing is more difficult than I expected because you need to comprehend what the person is saying and then ask questions that follow up on what they said.
After that, I had to transcribe the audio.
After everything was done, I finally made this article about Andy!

Film Documentary
Our first assignment to get into the documentary unit was to create a “Mockumentary” in which we created a fake story and made a fake documentary about.
After making the mockumentary we were then tasked to create an ACTUAL documentary. This was quite a long task having to gather other people and interview them in person.

Reflection
After two documentaries, I noticed that I don’t really enjoy the style. The process is incredibly reliable on others, but I also love that part of the collaboration. Documentary requires being a good interviewer to get good answers that go deep enough to tell a story, and I’m just not super good at that.
But I’m still happy I managed to make something! I’m glad to be proud of my own product and enjoy doing what I do!
