So this is my photo narrative diptych. I took this these two photos and I edited them both in Photoshop.I based this off my short story I wrote in English. It is about a girl who cannot live up to her parent's expectations because of her older sister. Feel free to click on the image below to see a bigger version of it.
Sisters
This photo diptych portrays a story of two sisters. One sister has been the spotlight of the family, and enjoys being the center of attention. She is adored and loved by everyone, and excels academically as well as socially. This sets the standards too high for the other sister, who is quieter, and her self-esteem is damaged as a result of that.
The first photo depicts the source of tension between the sisters as children. The mother playing piano with her daughter and having a good time forgets about her other daughter sitting at the foot of the piano, craving for affection.
The second picture shows the moment where she can't stand living in her sister's shadow anymore. As she glares up at her sister, this depicts just another event where the other sister receives all the attention. The point of no return is the look in her sister's eyes. It is one of jealousy, anger, and just plain disgust of her sister's narcissistic self.
In a way, I feel like my sister and I could relate to this tension and situation. Sometimes I feel like she does not receive the credit and respect she deserves.
