10 Things I've Learned So Far
We were assigned this project in English class and it's overall purpose was to communicate the values and beliefs that make up our character today. We utilized experiences from our life to help compose the list below. The lessons I've included in my list are a few of my personal favorites and several (if not all of them) influence who I am as a person. In Web/Audio Production, we took the text from our list and performed them as a voiceover. We also produced a short composition of music to play throughout our video. In addition, we found images that represented the meaning of each of our lessons and finalized them into a podcast.
- Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
- A day without laughter is a day wasted.
- "Mean Girls" isn't just a movie, it's a true story.
- Being flawed means you're human, not broken.
- Save and plan for the future, but live for today.
- Time heals all wounds.
- Set goals and have a good sense of direction.
- You won't know unless you try.
- There's always more to a person than what meets the eye.
- Forgive but don't forget.
English Media Piece
After composing our list of lessons (above), we were instructed to choose one of those lessons and attempt to visually represent it via a photograph. Furthermore, we had to creatively integrate the text of our statement into the image. The statement I chose was, "'Mean Girls' isn't just a movie, it's a true story". This lesson speaks to a time in my life a few years ago when I was alienated by a group of girls for no good reason. Although it was pretty traumatic at the time, I have grown as a person since and I am stronger because of it. It really makes me think twice about a person's character and their actions. As explained in my video below, the majority of the class agreed with my stylistic choices and understood my message.
