Zenith Project Description / Requirements:

My project is an animated video essay discussing how video games function as storytelling mediums as well as why I think they are an important part of modern culture. My passion for this project is driven by a deep appreciation for games I’ve held since childhood, and I’m interested in continuing to explore their appeal. The video I plan to produce will be presented in segments: the first will briefly detail video games being recognized as an art form, the middle will go into depth about how even household developers like Nintendo have cultivated narrative works, and the final one will be a concluding thank you to creators for years of fun and artistry. The video will be a mixture of video gameplay footage, animated scenarios(an animated caricature will represent my voice), and live action segments. This project will be a challenge for me as a solo worker. Expressing opinions and arguments in an expository format will be a challenge as I struggle with argumentative writing, and have not really explored cohesive video editing and effects work. How will you incorporate your production class skills (new or existing) into your project? From my animation class I have learned multiple theories of color and design as well as the omnipresent principles of animation. I plan to incorporate these principles into my animated segments as well as the overall design and aesthetic of my video.
