About This Podcast

The “Not so Common Sense” podcast is about telling a silly childhood story about my common sense (or lack thereof).

Introduction

The podcast project gave us a fun, non visual way to quite literally have our voices heard. My goal was to make something lighthearted and silly with a message to take away. I decided that the best way to do this was to tell a story from my childhood about common sense. I took inspiration from Radiolab’s “Smarty Plants” podcast as well as The New York Times’ Modern Love: “Cropped Out of My Own Fantasy”.  I wanted to tell a story and incorporate humor as well.

Reflection

I think that my podcast turned out how I wanted it to. I was never very invested in making audio productions. Despite this, the podcast project was very enjoyable. I liked being able to record basically anything that I wanted. Making a podcast was also a very good opportunity to better familiarize myself with Pro Tools. My tips for first time podcasters would be to have a glass of water on hand at all times and to do lots of takes instead of one long take. It will take longer to record, but you will have better sounding results if you do.
