Introduction:
“How can you find, explore, and/or expand your passion?”
That was the question asked of all the Junior Freestyle students for the Explorations Project. We were allowed to explore our passion and improve upon a particular skill set that addresses 21st Century Skills. I instantly knew that I wanted to try and work on a passion that I could show physical results with. From that stemmed the idea of crocheting.
The 21st Century Skills I improved on through this project were Creativity and Self Direction. In the past, my grandma had tried to get me interested in crocheting however I would get frustrated when it started to look bad or when the stitches kept falling through. This resulted in me never finishing a single crochet project. Going into the Explorations Project by using the century skill of Self-Direction and setting goals related to learning, planning for the achievement of those goals, and independently managing time and effort I was able to produce a final product that I am proud of.
Final Product
The final product of my Exploration Project is shown in the photos below. Overall I am very happy with the outcome, although I had some obstacles during the process, the end result truly shows the craftsmen ship improvement. I look forward to crocheting more things in the future and am proud of my new skill 🙂
Experimental Music
For our Experimental Music Unit, we learned how to use MIDI instruments and create our own unique music through Pro Tools. I had so much fun using all of the different instruments and exploring the huge variety of sounds available. My inspiration for my music was a spin-off jazz song that has elements of spring and happiness in it.
Overall I am happy with my song and look forward to exploring what I can do with my new skill of MIDI instruments.
