Home Documentary Book Paper Projects

This unit in Design required more work than previous units. In the past, we have made a diptych and an illustration for each unit. However, for this unit we only had one project: a book. In order to make our book, we learned how to use Adobe InDesign, which is like working with a bunch of Adobe Illustrator files at once.

To make our book more interesting, we went out to take several batches of pictures relating to our documentary topic. For my first batch, I walked around the Waldorf campus. I didn't get too many good pictures, so I was disappointed. On my second trip, however, I got to look around the third grade classroom, where I got the majority of my pictures for the book as well as the website. The third time, I went to see a mother of several Waldorf students. She showed me many works of art that her children had made for projects. Many of my pictures are from this photoshoot. In two of them, you can see her daughter in the background.

After turning our pictures in as contact sheets, we started to work on the book. We worked on it for a few weeks, did a critique, and then uploaded to Blurb, the site we used to print the books. I worked on mine through several open labs, and actually really enjoy the finished product. If you click on the picture to the left, you can read the digital copy.
