My mom and I!

Hi! I’m Sierra, and I was a Freestyle student from 2022-2024. This website contains my work throughout every unit at Freestyle, where I took film as my elective. I love all forms of art but I grew up making home videos and admiring film, although I didn’t know much about it. I drifted toward Freestyle and film specifically for the opportunity to learn in an open and creative environment. Freestyle was a change of pace from the monotonous schedule of school. A core value that is important to me is maintaining a school/life balance, and Freestyle’s academic and artistically-based flexibility allowed me to maintain this my junior and senior year.

Outside of school, I like to read, travel, paint, hangout with friends, play the guitar, and listen to music. Music plays a big role in my life, I love discovering new music and going to concerts, or just listening to music walking down school hallways. Traveling is also important to me, some of my best memories are on trips with friends and family. Next year, I will be attending the University of California at Santa Cruz, where I hope to double major in Film and a Social Science–I am very excited to meet new people and travel to all kinds of new places.

Freestyle has made an incredible impact on my high school experience. Before Freestyle, I was worried that the busy nature of Bay Area high schools would stop me from pursuing or even practicing artistic skills that I had grown up expressing myself through. Not only did Freestyle blend my creative needs with academics, access to Freestyle’s technology allowed me to expand my creative horizons. More than anything, I am grateful to Freestyle for it’s existence and openness, I really feel like it has an excellent balance of fostering creativity and technological preparedness for future careers. From an excellent digital literacy, to improved writing skills, an understanding of Adobe Applications, music production, filmmaking, and more, Freestyle has helped me grow as a creative person. I am confident in my artistic abilities and excited to embark upon College adventures and beyond with all the skills I’ve learned at Freestyle under my belt. What I will miss most of all is the incredible community I’ve gotten to be a part of, however I look forward to seeing all the amazing things my classmates do in the future. Thank you Freestyle! ❤️

Personal Stationery

Our last Digital Media project at Freestyle was to create Personal Stationery. I created a creative Resume, letterhead, and business cards that I will use as a template for future career opportunities.
