The Narrative 2 Unit was probably my favorite unit in all of freestyle, and especially in Film Production Class. While last year I tested the waters with my first narrative film, Iron Tiger, this year I went for an even more ambitious film: Man of the Midnight. But before we even began our multi month long narrative film, we practiced with a few shorter films to hone our filmmaking skills before our big project.

MAN OF THE MIDNIGHT
After a couple months of practicing and learning new writing / filmmaking techniques, my partner and I began our multi month long narrative film project. Although I had many ideas of what I wanted to do, I decided on making an action-drama superhero film; Man of the Midnight!
The story follows Norman, a boring man who is bullied by his boss at work who wishes to find a more meaningful existence to life. But after he was saved from muggers, he meets Eclipse: A superhero who is willing to mentor Norman into becoming his sidekick. However, as they fight crime alongside each other and grow closer, Norman slowly uncovers Eclipse’s harsh methods of fighting crime. Norman must make a decision: ignore Eclipse’s unwavering violence, or face against him.

Jean Marc and I worked hard together from November all the to May to make this film as good as it could possibly be. Although there were many setbacks, we powered through and finished the film in time for the Freestyle Exhibition. This project wouldn’t have been possible without Jean Marc, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the time and effort he poured into our project!
