Photo Blog 28: My Culture

Me posing with objects representing my culture. (1/30, 5.6, ISO 0)

Although I didn’t know what to do at first since my parents had come from much different backgrounds, I realized I could incorporate aspects of both of theirs and my culture they passed down to me. On the left, I have a panda to represent my Chinese side of my family since Pandas are often synonymous with Chinese culture. On the other hand (literally), I am holding a Stroop waffle, a traditional Dutch snack that my father passed down his love for to me. Although it is sometimes hard to fit in with one of the cultural groups or the other, I am still proud of my heritage and despite my parent’s differences, they still love each other and had me.
