Small vs Large

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is elephant-guitar-1-768x1024.png

This image conveys the idea of small vs large because the stuffed elephant is playing a guitar that is three times his size. What is interesting about this is how the roles of small vs large would shift if it were a real elephant playing the guitar. In this photo, the aperture is F1.6, shutter speed 1/30, and ISO 640.

Color Theory

Using color theory, I went with a monochromatic theme. This is a cloudy sky behind trees in the Trinity Alps Mountains. This image includes the whole white to black scale, with hints of white in the clouds and black trees in the front. The aperture is F2.8, shutter speed is 1/60, and ISO 400.

Long Shutter Speed Exposure

This photo was taken in the meadows near a small lake. My friend and I were exploring graffiti tunnels and found this beautiful spot to take some photos. This image has a long shutter speed exposure so my face looks like it’s escaping from a ghost while the background stays still. The aperture is F2.4, shutter speed is 1/60, and ISO 64.

The Elements

This image shows three of the five elements: water, earth & wind. This photo was taken in the Trinity Alps, where these girls acted as monsters coming out of the water. The grass was high in the back which means the wind was moving it around. In this image, the aperture is F4.9, shutter speed is 1/225, and ISO 80.

Low Angles

My friends and I recreated the cover of the album Straight Outta Compton by N.W.A. Annie is holding her hands a certain way to recreate Easy-E’s pose. In this image, the aperture is F 3.5, the shutter speed is 1/195, and ISO 800.

Pleasure Point, Santa Cruz

For this weeks photoblog, I took a photo of my friends holding up a heart. We celebrated our friends birthday in Aptos, Santa Cruz, and we stayed a few minute walk from the beach. So we walked there for sunset and took photos with my DSLR camera. In this photo, the aperture is F5.6, shutter speed 1/10, ISO 400.

Gratitude

I’m grateful for my bunny, Bubbles. Since receiving her as a baby, I’ve learned a lot about having to take care of someone. I feel like a mother figure to my bunny and I always want to be sure she is safe. In this image, the aperture is F5, the shutter speed is 1/195, and ISO 200.

Rule of thirds emotion

My friend and I are driving back from a night of sleeping in her van along the beach. You can see her face in the top third and left third of this image, smiling as she’s driving us home, with her hair still wet from our morning cold plunge. She’s also holding the Shaka sign, symbolizing relaxation and happiness. In this image, the aperture is F 2.8 and shutter speed is 1/100.

Color without color

Even though this photo is black and white, there are many different hues so you can see what is going on in this image. Color makes up so much of this image with the strong contrast of blue ocean and orange jellyfish so it is really interesting to take the color out of it. In this image, the aperture is F 1.6, shutter speed is 1/60, and ISO 500.

Who inspires you

My mom is the person I look up to the most. She is so strong willed and independent, it is very inspiring. She moved to America with no money and spoke no English, and now she’s in the medical field and owns 6 homes, while she’s always in the middle of remodeling one of them. In this image, the aperture is F4, shutter speed is 1/10, and ISO 1600.
