Showcase

Introduction

Welcome! My name is Théa Nair. I have been a film student at Freestyle Academy for the past 2 years. Throughout my time at Freestyle, I have cultivated a variety of skills not only as a filmmaker. I have learned how to use Adobe applications to communicate and share my perspective with the world. I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from and be mentored by the staff at Freestyle and to have been able to learn so much about the film medium. I have always been interested in film and prior to Freestyle would make amateur films in iMovie with my cousins. Looking back I never would have believed that I’d have an opportunity like Freestyle to explore my passions and create some amazing projects.

Outside of Freestyle, I am a graduating senior at Mountain View High School, I play water polo and swim, and enjoy playing music. I am hoping to take the skills I have learned at Freestyle and continue to share my stories with the world. My interest in videography was something I brought with me into Freestyle, but I leave with a passion for so much more. I have learned about the wonders of photography and dabbled in graphic design and wish to explore these avenues of creativity more in the future.

Showcase Video

My Showcase

I have always been interested in action movies, more specifically in the “action” of these movies. My Showcase is a fight scene I made for my Explorations project. The Explorations project was the end of year project for my Junior year. Juniors were given the opportunity to pick any topic to research, teach themselves, and then make a movie about said topic. I chose to learn how to “Choreograph a fight scene”.
For this project I researched the narrative and structural components of making a fight scene entertaining, and the behind the scenes of learning at shooting that fight scene. It is important to note that I am really interested in the technological parts of film, the behind the scenes, for this exploration project I enjoyed researching the topic as much as filming it.

Reel

Finally here is a selection of all my Freestyle film projects that I am most proud of:

I am really proud of the progress I made as a filmmaker in just 2 short years. Freestyle has given me the resources and tools to help me thrive as a creative, I am grateful for the experiences that Freestyle has offered me and I want to thank you for taking the time out of your day to review my Showcase. In the near future, I will be attending the University of Colorado Boulder and pursuing a psychology degree but plan on continuing film on the side.

Have an amazing rest of your day and thank you for looking at my Showcase
