Milpitas v Mnt View; 41-7

Welcome to my page! My name is Vikash Kumar and I am a student at Freestyle Academy. I attend Mountain View High School, and I take Design, Digital Media, and English at Freestyle Academy. Before joining Freestyle, I only saw photography and Designing as hobbies and didn’t bother going into much depth in those areas. Freestyle changed my perception of different fields of art and changed my perception of how people can share their interests in art. My experience with Freestyle proves to be a great learning opportunity as it pushes me to go out of my comfort zone and explore fields of art I never thought I would learn about. What I value about being a student at Freestyle is the learning experience I am exposed to as it is more independent and has you rely on your peers. I joined as my brother was a former Freestyle student and recommended it to me. Since joining Freestyle, my passion for the arts has increased, and my creative process is much more complex. Along with photography, my interests are cars, cooking, exploring nature, and football, which I play at Mnt. View High School. I value hard work, dedication, and cooperation. I hope to leave Freestyle with a deeper knowledge of arts and plan to pursue it in the future.

Junior Year Reflection

As the 2020-2021 school year comes to an end, I come to reflect on this past year and the challenges many people and I have endured. With Covid-19 playing a primary role in my performance, I struggled most times to put 100% effort into the little things in life. The past school year brought many challenges I thought I would never have to endure. Freestyle was an experience like I have never experienced before and has opened my world of creativity to an even broader spectrum. Although I struggled to put my best foot forward at times, I pushed through and created amazing pieces of art in Digital Media, Design, and English. As a digital artist, my knowledge of what it takes to be a skilled artist has expanded to lengths I would have never thought I would reach. Learning about different editing software apps to create art or music has re-sparked my interest and passion for art as I learn about the endless possibilities of Adobe and Pro Tools. This year was a year like never before, and the challenges that have come along my path throughout my junior year have challenged me to become a more resilient person I hope to return senior year with a better drive to create work that will shock thousands.

Senior Year Reflection

The past two years at Freestyle have been an amazing experience in learning what it takes to be a digital artist. learning different styles of skill sets in digital media, design, and English has opened multiple opportunities for me to display techniques in future projects. From learning how to create websites to creating books from scratch, I was fortunate enough to be given an opportunity to explore the limitless abilities I had with no restrictions. I learned what true tenacity looks like, being stuck on a project and finding multiple dead ends, only to suddenly make limitless progress in each work was a challenge that developed me into a better worker. Consistently hitting bumps and challenges among every project was the key to building a stronger skill set and having the ability to challenge any task you are anxious about. The teachers and students at Freestyle were the biggest factors in shaping who I am. Being told I can do what my heart desires and only receiving endless support from my peers motivated me to take on projects I would never have encountered in my life. Although I may not pursue this as a career, the skills I have learned from Freestyle will stay by me for the rest of my life as I have picked up new hobbies and interests that are art-focused. I would like to thank the staff and my peers for all of the support and motivation they have given me over the past two years and I would never forget the experiences made here at Freestyle. Thank you!
