Reflections

For this unit, we were able to create different forms of media that showed our identity and who we are. One thing that discovered from this unit is the overall create nature that comes with my personality. I never knew that giving myself the freedom and the time to create would result in cool artworks in digital media or even great films in film. I value creativity when it comes to these types of projects, and I value the importance of expressing yourself the way you see fits.

Mandala

Through the use of illustrator, we were asked to create mandalas that represented who we are. A mandala is a piece of artwork that has geometric symbols or pictures all around in a circle. Through the use of illustrator, we were tasked to use the brush pen and setting in order to create an image that represented who we are

CHANGE ME CHANGE ME

For My black and white mandala, when producing it, I thought of putting aside of my personality through the portrayal of cartoons. Throughout the mandala, you are able to see a bunch of geometric lines and circles with other pictures. What sets me apart from production is the gradual decrease in density when creating the piece. As you can see, in the middle of the mandala, it is very dense, but as it goes outwards, it gets less dense with more pictures. The density in the middle represents how our personality makes up most of who we are. The thing I valued the most when it comes to making this mandala, is by expressing myself and my personality.

As a kid, I used to be obsessed with drawing cartoons and doodling in class. In some parts of the mandala, you can see some of the pictures that I drew. I decided to do this to explore a part of me in the past, and include it in a picture that I’ll remember for a lifetime. When it comes to my personality, I decided to express myself with geometric lines. The thing that I learned about myself was that I am almost a perfectionist when it comes to drawing and designing.

When I saw myself draw outside of lines, I always got a sense that I was doing something wrong, and that it did not feel right. It was almost like I had OCD when creating this drawing. But this sense of being a perfectionist also is a part of my whole. Even when I park my car, when it is crooked, I can never get out until it is straight. It almost applies here. When I mess up and draw outside a line, I can never continue, until it is perfect

REFLECTIONS PHOTOSHOP

My experience with creating this pastel painting was very pleasant. I enjoyed being able to blend the colors together and create a different version of the picture that we had in mind. I also enjoyed using the wacom pen and never realized how much of a difference that the pen can make when creating these types of pictures. Overall the experience was very good and I can’t wait to do this again sometime in the future.

The one thing that I valued the most when creating this painting was the experience and time it took. I didn’t want to rush the different parts of my painting so I wanted to take my time to make it the best possible. Although some parts were harder than others, it didn’t take away from the experience that came with making the picture. Its always easy to get unmotivated with something so hard but for this project, it was very different

The one thing that I learned about myself as a digital artist is that i am persistent. In some parts of the painting, the colors were off and the blending was very hard. But i told myself to keep going despite not knowing what to do halfway through the painting. This led me to finish the painting and be pleased with the final product in hand

photoshop water color

The story behind my painting is based upon the setting in Palo alto bay lands. Around 2014, I used to go out with my sister and my dog to visit Palo alto bay lands. there is this one spot in particular that we used to go to a lot and it was this grassy plain land with a single tree. unfortunately, the spot slowly deteriorated over time and the tree is now gone.

For my painting, one of the more meaningful connections that I had with this project would be paintings that hold memories. For me, this painting, in particular, held a memory that lasted over 7 years, and I can visualize the scene in my head as the memories begin to form again. the other meaningful connection I had with this painting is that I tried to portray the feeling I had when I went here through the use of colors.

The thing I valued the most when it came to this painting was the use of layering and texture. I feel like what people don’t understand the most when it comes to making a good painting, is the number of layers and textures you add in order to give out a sense of realism. despite this painting not being the ” best painting” ever, I still enjoyed the time doing it and learning how to layer different colors and strokes together.

The reason why i chose my subject for the photoshop effect was that the subject is one of my favorite characters, from the show squid game. I decided to use a person as my subject is because I thought the skin texture and color would complement the effect to its full ability

, in my opinion, I think this a very fast way to produce work for clients, but i also feel like it takes the experience aspect away when it comes to art. When we create something, we feel a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction after working hard on a project. this, however, there is less satisfaction when it comes to creating these types of art.

I might use this technique to recreate family photos or friend photos as paintings. i then would use these images to hang the paintings up in my room. another way I can use this technique is if i need to make a painting of a image but i don’t have enough time to create it.

Photoshop Compisition

The message I am trying to convey with my surreal composition is to capture what it would look like in a post-apocalyptical setting. I wanted to use the broken and torn down buildings to really show emphasis on how our society can slowly decay over time if we ever live long enough. The ghost figure that is shown walking down the street is reminiscing of a time when it used to be peaceful.

Some techniques that I found that were really useful to this project would be the blend modes. I was able to use the blend modes to create a more abstract image and or make the photoshop image better by bringing up more contrast in the image or bringing up some of the highlights.

Some thought i had into creating the surreal project is trying to make by photo as abstract as possible. That was a failed approach so i resorted to making something that is more realistic, and how it could really happen in the future. Realistic compositions are more rewarding in the message they present but abstract compositions and surreal compositions are more fun and give better emotion when portraying a message.

Film

For Film, we were asked to do a video essay. I did my video essay that explores the idea of procrastination. i wanted to see a better side of procrastination and thought that procrastination was a way for us to escape from work in order to give us a mental break. through the use of pro tools and adobe premiere I was able to make a video essay portraying my personality and who I am as a person
