Introduction
In this project, we learn how to express our creative opinions through various professional applications and equipment, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Audition, WordPress, DSLR camera’s, and audio recorders.
Art reflection video
In August, we took a trip to the SF MOMA. We were assigned to find an artwork that inspired awe in us. In English, we reflected on the artwork and wrote a voiceover which we recorded. We then put the voiceover into a video we created through Premiere Pro and Audition. I learned new ways of using keyframes, but the main thing I took out of the project was a deeper appreciation for visual art.

Parody Production

⏸ Report Card of Broken Grades
For the parody project, we were assigned to chose a song and write parody lyrics for at least a verse and a chorus. We then downloaded the backing track and recording us singing the lyrics in the digital media recording studio. I had lots of fun with it, especially when coming up with and writing down the lyrics.
My artist statement: The song I chose to parody was Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day. Due to its bold and simple lyric structure, it felt perfect for messing with. When coming up with ideas, one of the first things that came to my mind was school, specifically academics, and how everyone wants to get the best scores possible. In doing so, they sometimes base their identity off of their scores. To make fun of this painful concept, I wrote about the opposite, where the singer doesn’t believe in the integrity of their bad score because it conflicts with their awesome identity. Something we can learn from this parody is to enjoy life for what it is and not let mere academic pressure get the best of us.
Lyrics:
I get an F again, on the report card of broken grades
But I’m really smart, trust me it’s just that they don’t get it
They don’t get it, they don’t get it.
They don’t get it, they don’t get-
My power stretches far beyond their knowledge
My aura reaches past the solar system
Sometimes I wish that they would understand that
‘Till then I’ll get an F
Photoshop Blend Modes
For Photoshop Blend Modes, we learned the basics of Adobe Photoshop. During this project, we created a magazine cover of ourselves, altered some pictures, and blended two photos together. I value being able to use these skills in the future because it is the best way to edit pictures that I know of so far. I can also possibly see myself designing cover art or thumbnails and maybe posters.

DSLR Photos
The Practice sessions we had at the beginning of the year taught us different shooting modes, including Av Mode with shallow and deep depth of field, Tv mode with long exposure night photography, flash practice with portraits in front of backdrops, P-mode with ISO changes, and altering White Balance.

Film
For the conceptual unit in film, we explored non traditional ways of expressing our creativity through different exercises such as the Video Scavenger Hunt, Green Screen Shot, Double Effect, and also our main project of the unit, the Experimental Film. At the beginning of the year I was originally excited to get to the narrative stuff such as storytelling and cool techniques. However, this unit sparked my mind to enjoy to more abstract types of film and appreciate the non conforming techniques used.
