Introduction
In this unit, we researched and improved upon a new particular topic in our elective class. Out of all of our units so far, this one allowed us the most freedom. For my topic, I chose forced perspective. This is something I thought would be super cool if done right. Turns out there’s A LOT of stuff going on behind the scenes, and I was pretty much in awe the entire time while doing research. Overall I improved on visual literacy.

For the bike shot, I scaled my Illustrator project to the size of a real bike by putting the camera closer to the project than the bike. For the fire shots, I created two stashes of paper, one in front and one behind. This way when I lit them on fire, it would look as if the flames are roasting the smiski.

Poetry
During the last few weeks of English, we wrote poems and recited them to the class. In Digital media, we created a production of them, similar to the art reflection video at the beginning of the year. At its core, my poem is about my desire to form deeper relationships with people.

Poetry production
Combining music, key-framed visuals, and a passionate recitation, I tried to get as close to the original vibe I created in the poem as I could. I think it turned out pretty accurate.
One of the creative freedoms I chose to pursue was a high contrast between the beginning and end compared to the middle. This is a key component of the original poem, which in the production I extended to visuals and sound.
