Introduction

The explorations unit allowed us to take some time to put our mandated projects aside, and research a specific tool or concept used in the film industry, and take what we learned from that to create a small product demonstrating mastery of the topic. Along with this we were also tasked with presenting our project.

I chose to focus on screenwriting, specifically the format and usage of screenplays, mainly because I wanted to work on my pre production skills, and I had always found screenwriting to be an interest of mine.

Presentation

The explorations presentation is usually a screen-recorded video of a slideshow with speech in the background. I thought that my topic of screenplay would be way to boring in that format. To combat this issue, I came up with the idea of screenwriting the entire presentation with the proper screenwriting format and filming most of my presentation in the guise of a skit. Of course, I added in the slideshow at the end to cover my infographic and anything I had missed or needed to clarify. In hindsight, I can see that my acting wasn’t great, and not having someone behind the camera while I was in frame was frustrating but somewhat rewarding in the end.
