The Zenith project was supposed to be a project demonstrating our complete experience at Freestyle and everything we had learned in that time. We were given complete creative freedom at the cost of having to set and meet our own strict deadlines. In Film, we were tasked with creating a project which encompassed all three phases of production.

For my Zenith project, I chose to create a music video for one of my friend’s songs (he’s a soundcloud rapper). I had never attempted anything like this before, and I knew little to nothing about filming a music video which complemented the song it was made for. At the risk of my own sanity at some times was well worth the reward in my humble opinion. All in all the process involved writing a script synopsis, a shot list, three days of filming, and hours of editing.

Pre Production

Pre Production was the most smooth and simple part of the project. I spent one week writing a synopsis of the concepts I wanted the video to follow, and the second on an in depth shot list to organize my filming days and actors.

Shot List

Production

Filming took place across three days in 1.5-3 hour sessions. Managing a set with multiple actors alone was something I had never done before due to other major projects being partner/group work. There were little to no problems on set, although it was difficult for me to convey what exactly I wanted my actors to do sometimes.

Post Production

Post production was the most difficult phase for me, because I’m not the most patient person, and editing requires quite a bit of it. For all the mental pain this caused me, seeing it all come together was really satisfying for me, and ultimately rewarding.

Final Project

All in all, I’m happy that I was able to close out my time at freestyle with a ‘BANG.’ Please enjoy!
