10 Things I've Learned So Far in Life

The "10 Things I've Learned So Far in Life" assignment was an assignment that we did in English class to start of our Self-Portrait unit. Using this list, we formulated all the projects that we have done for the Self-Portrait unit. This list relates to who I am because these are my personal beliefs that I have accumulated throughout my life.

  1. Be happy with what you have, not what you want.
  2. Fear is a powerful weapon, if used correctly.
  3. Accepting yourself is the key to your happiness.
  4. Art is a powerful tool.
  5. One path, is only one way.
  6. Grudges make your heart heavy.
  7. You can’t escape from yourself.
  8. Experience nature.
  9. If you believe you can, you can. If you believe you cannot, you cannot.
  10. Use film for photography.

Making this podcast was definitely an interesting experience. We used Adobe Flash to put together ten images that depict our "10 Things That I've Learned in Life" list above. We also put together music using Apple Garageband and their loops. We then put this music in the background of our podcast and overlayed ourselves recording the list. This process helped us get a feeling for Adobe Flash and how it worked with frames.

English Media Piece

The English Media Piece assignment was an assignment used to symbolize one of the personal statements that we wrote. In my case, I used "The Beauty in Film is the Grain". I showed this statement through an oak tree, which symbolizes the strength and age of film. In a literal sense, the grain of wood would relate to the grain of film with the name, but metaphorically the grain of a tree and the strength it provides correlates to the strength film's grain provides to the meaning of the image.
