Looking at my pool while taking this photo made me realize that I haven’t used the pool in a long time. in almost a year. I use it during the summer, never during the winter, and barely during the spring. I wonder If thats what its like for most pool owners. Looking down at the pool in the shady area I see trees, but looking in the sunny area I see the bottom on the pool. If the pool had eyes I wonder what life is like. ages and ages of not being used, lonely and forgotten, staring up forever, a traded body of water. no life living in it, except for the occasional bugs that fall into it. But its a beautiful view, but a lonely view. only seeing clouds floating around, trees blowing around, the occasional airplanes above. I know pools or bodies of water don’t actually have feelings, or eyes, they can’t see. but if they did, and they could. I wonder if they would be lonely.

From my loft, where I usually study, I looked down the stairs in front of me. The stairs also continue upward toward my bedroom, where I sleep, so this space holds two parts of my everyday routine.

On the right side, the open doorway stood out. It felt like an exit, not in a dramatic way, but as a quiet break from the cycle of studying, sleeping, and repeating the same spaces every day.

In a place I pass through all the time, the doorway suddenly felt more meaningful. It became a change from my designated routine, an exit toward a new beginning.

Serenity

In a quiet corner between two chairs, my dog rests without worry, surrounded by soft light and stillness. Nothing is rushing, nothing is loud just a small, peaceful moment that often goes unnoticed.

Moments like this remind me to slow down and appreciate calm in everyday life.

I walked up the hill behind my house at just the right moment to catch golden hour. The sky was filled with warm, soft light, and the clouds glowed gently in shades of orange. From the top of the hill, I watched the sun brush the clouds with color while the hills below faded into shadows. The soft light and wide open sky create a peaceful, almost magical moment that inspires feelings of calm, reflection, and quiet hope.

The raindrops on the car window blur the buildings outside, making the world look softer and farther away. Instead of focusing on what is happening outside, the rain creates a peaceful mood and slows everything down.

While the rain continues outside, inside of the car feels warm and quiet, it makes me feel calming rather than sad. When we sit quietly watching the world through a window, it creates a moment for me to pause and think.

In the original photo, I used white balance to emphasize the natural color of the ambient light, specifically the cool, bluish tones of the low light conditions. Instead of correcting the scene to look neutral, I allow the natural cool to remain. This fits this article’s creative approach: “To emphasize the natural color of the light rather than neutralizing it.”

I took this picture at Shoreline park. A small black and white bird is standing in rippled water right before sunset. I was drawn to the stillness of the bird and the tranquility of the water, and I wanted the photo to reflect that quiet atmosphere and the beauty of nature at dusk.

Difference Between the Original and the Edited Version:
After reviewing the image, I decided to create an edited version that warms up the white balance. While the original photo highlights the naturally cool, bluish light of the scene, the edited version introduces more orange tones to give it a subtle sunset warmth. By making this change, I shifted the mood of the picture from calm and cool to a more inviting, glowing atmosphere. This shows how white balance can be used creatively to interpret the same moment in two different emotional ways.

I took the picture at Shoreline park, a row of surfboards stacked on a rack at sunset. The large white board on the right stands out the most because it’s brighter, giving it more visual weight. The darker boards behind it balance the composition. The soft background keeps the focus on the surfboards and their shapes.

This image captures the solitude of a simple bee, quietly going about its work, alone but purposeful. It dances from flower to flower, not seeking attention, but simply enjoying the moment, making the most of its brief life. Watching it reminds me to embrace life and cherish every moment, as life, too, is short.
