As we approach the end of our time at Freestyle, we get a chance to reflect back on everything we’ve done as seniors. In this portfolio page, I’ll be featuring a couple of my favorite works from the year! This includes the best of my creative projects from both Freestyle Academy and outside of school.

Animation has been a nearly lifelong passion for me, from growing up with my favorite movies/shows to trying my hand at it for the first time back in middle school. I compiled some of the 2D and 3D animated work I’ve done in the past two years or so in this demo reel.

As our last digital media assignment, we designed our own stationery including a business card (artwork pictured above). I drew myself, along with a couple doodled references to my personal interests as well as Freestyle experiences from throughout the year.

We follow a young protagonist who is so overcome by stress that a three-headed monster manifests in their dreams: Cerberus. Once the student wakes up to find that they’re not alone in their struggles, they return to the dream world once again. All they had to do was show some kindness to the beast… and to themself.

I haven’t gotten the chance to show the Narrative Animation team project anywhere on my website yet! My group worked collaboratively to plan and execute an original story, which was a lot of fun for me. As for me, I animated Cerberus in the first dream scene, using 2D rather than 3D to indicate the difference from the real world. I think this experience helped me understand more of what makes working in animation unique, as most production happens in multiple stages, with multiple animators and artists. I’m really thankful to my teammates who put so much work into making our film look great.
