This week’s prompt was, “Be Inspired by Food. Yes, it really is that easy this week. You made it this far – you deserve the break. A sweet, delicious break.” For this prompt, I decided to take a picture of some gnocchi (essentially potato pasta) my mom had made for dinner and left out for my sister for when she got home late from a track meet. She puts a lot of effort into making sure we have wonderful home-cooked dinners each night. Even though some family members return later than others at times and we don’t always get to eat together, I am incredibly grateful to my mom for always making sure everyone has a nice dinner to come home to. In the photo, I was also able to incorporate some additional elements I liked, such as the reflection of our circular kitchen lights off the counter top and 3 repetitions of a pattern in the tops of the chairs. I also tried to enhance my photo by using the rule of thirds in the way I framed the lights, edge of the table, and gnocchi on the plate, but the perspective made it difficult to get them all perfect in relation to each other. However, I am still happy with the photo and would like to emphasize my gratitude to my mother for the effort she puts into making dinner each night.
