Using Props

This week’s prompt was “Trick Photography can be easy with props. Create an interesting effect with simple props.” For this photo, I actually recruited my sister to help me. We took a walk to the park and tried to get photos with several different types of props. We attempted throwing leaves and flowers like cherry blossoms at her, but found the results unsatisfying because we really couldn’t gather enough petals to make the picture visually pleasing. We then changed gears and began holding leaves and petals up to interesting subjects, like her hands, eyes, hair, and face. We both liked those photos much more. I ended up deciding to use this photo of her peeking through a leaf that we had torn a hole in because I really like the way the light hits both her eyelashes and the small hairs of the leaf. I had a lot of fun with her messing around with the various props, and would consider the joint project a success.
