Introduction

“How can I use unconventional forms to express myself?”

This allows us to use many forms of self-expression, through many forms of art. Like poetry, music, traditional and digital art, animations, experimental film, and web production. This gives us the opportunity to express our concepts in whichever form we think is best. This also helps us learn the different tools we have available to us, DSLR Cameras, Tascam Audio Recorders, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Animate, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition, Avid Pro Tools, WordPress, and Google Apps. We are lucky to have all of these available at freestyle, with help we can easily access.

Exasperation

I enjoyed being able to make a haiku on Premiere Pro. This gave me my basic introduction to this program. This was really nice to see since I have wanted to get into Premiere Pro for editing. The audio was a lot of fun to mess around with.

SpookTember

My poem is heavily based on the aesthetic of the fall months. Since my favorite season is fall. When I heard that we were doing poems based on what we wanted, I was very excited. So then I put together SpookTember, my creative side really took over.

Spooktober is a free verse poem I came up with as the season changed from summer to autumn. The visuals and smell of target and bath body works filled me with the joy of Halloween. My sister and I take Halloween to the next level since we both love spooky and gothic features. We started getting ready for Halloween in August! I called out to my friends to give me Halloween things, some called me crazy since it was August. But my friend responded to my Halloween call of spooky finds, in which she gave me a video. This video was Halloween serotonin for my eyes, and I got the inspiration to write the first part of my poem based on such visuals. However, instead of just writing visuals I must keep it spooky, so I added a bit of mystery to it, making the poem about “her” season. This character is supposed to remain a mystery and give the reader a sense of spooky while reading. And to keep questioning who is she and why is she important. That’s when we get to the second half of the poem. I found another video but this time, it was like a game. I thought it was a fantastic idea and decided to use it in this to make this poem a sort of game that “she” wants the reader to participate in. But little does the reader know, that game was already over once he entered “her” garden. This is where a scary atmosphere comes into play, although Halloween may seem like candy to most. I wanted to bring the scariness into play, to show the amount of beauty autumn has. The autumn-ey feel to make the reader comfortable, when “she” knew it was all a trap. Making the reader comfortable was a great idea so you wouldn’t sense a trap coming. To make “her” garden inviting, even though in the first few lines she was not meant to be friendly.
