Humor

Introduction

In the humor unit in our English class, we read SlaughterHouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut. His book utilizes, black humor and absurd humor to show his experience in war. This sprung a humor project in our class, a time where the class gets to make funny videos, on the 29th of April, we would watch and celebrate our hard work.

With the release of Chapter 2 of Poppy Playtime and my Five Nights at Freddy’s phase returning, I decided to make an analog horror (mixed with satire) commercial. My friend, James, and I would create a script at about 12 am and immediately start recording the next day. We would use an old creepy doll as a kid’s toy, a cheap director would use it in their commercial and end up facing the consequences of not heeding the clearly obvious warning. I want to state that I got this creepy doll from Goodwill, for all I know it really could be possessed.

Our final outcome was this:

Reflection

Honestly, I haven’t had time to hang out with James alone in a while. So to do this as a way to reunite and hang out with each other was just perfect. Making a funny video and just hanging out after was what we needed. However, James did start crying because he was convinced this doll was possessed or, being manipulated by a spirit. Overall, we had a fun time. I would love to make more projects like this in the future. Probably with fewer tears involved.

In all, I feel a humor project is just a great topic to give to high schoolers. Taking a break and just being silly around your friends or even just yourself is a great pick-me-up. Especially at the end of our final year at high school.
