A carousel is often thought of as a symbol of passing time. how you are on the journey and you can’t get off, but you can continuously start anew through the rotation. As a child, my elementary school would have us sing the Circle Game by Joni Mitchell, where she describes the painted ponies going up and down, like the time passing, but with each round you begin again.
