Hi! My name is Avni Sardana- I’m an aspiring artist from Silicon Valley. I thrive in environments that are dominated by self-expression and creativity which is what brought me to Freestyle Academy, my second home.
I am an American of South Asian descent. I like to think I get the best of both worlds from American and Indian culture. I’m extremely lucky to be living in the Bay Area, a hotspot for opportunity, and I try my best to take advantage of that. I’m also extremely lucky to come from a family that worked incredibly hard to get where they are, bringing along tons of beautiful traditions and customs.
I value growth, empathy, and accountability strongly. In my free time, I love to take photos, dance, volunteer, listen to music, explore new places, and learn.
At Freestyle, I took Design, Digital Media, and English. I’m inspired by several artists including: Francesca Woodman, Fan Ho, and István Bányai. I notice their originality, attention to detail, and conceptual style- all of which I aspire to emphasize in my art.
Freestyle helped me learn so much about myself. I think my years at Freestyle helped me grow exponentially. Aside from technical abilities, the classes taught me so many valuable life skills I will remember and carry on with me for so many years to come. I found a sense of community where I really felt like I could truly be myself and meet so so many cool people!
