Water Colour Name
This project was an opportunity for a new experience for me. I had not really worked with watercolour in this way before, and learned many new techniques and skills. We started by designing our name in cursive in Adobe Illustrator, I added character to mine by giving it a French cafe theme. We then took our designs and printed them out on watercolour paper to paint. Through the process, I struggled a lot with staying in the fine lines and especially controlling the opaque and water amounts.
Product Design
This project is a product design for a coffee brand. I have always been drawn to coffee shop aesthetics and designs and wanted to make something that represented that. Another thing that I have always been drawn to is characters for companies, so I incorporated that as well. The first thing I designed was a logo, I used this on the tote bag and the hoodie. After I had a logo, I created a label for my product. The result brought my ideas to life and inspired me to do more.
To create the logo and label, I used Adobe Illustrator. It was a very tedious process using mockup designs from Placeit.com and sizing everything right. After I had created the designs to the right dimensions, it was very easy to place my image on the mockup and export it. The most difficult part of this project was finding the right items that conveyed the same feeling as my company. I scrolled through Placeit.com mockups forever before I found the ones that fit.
MoodBoard
In Design, we are required to create a mood board before starting any project. This consists of pulling images, fonts, colour schemes and more from the internet, that influence the idea we want our project to be. Creating mood boards has been one of the most beneficial techniques I’ve learned for starting a project. I quickly go from having no idea what I want my project to be, to having a guide to follow.

World-Building
In my story, there are twins sisters trapped inside a grand old victorian house. Theyre parents have disappeared and they have returned to this vacation home in hopes to find them. While searching for their parents, the sisters stumble across a glowing light coming from the basement. They wonder if this is where there parents went and decide to go in and are faced with the darkest version of themselves.
To create this poster, I used mainly Adobe Illustrator to put all my graphics and elements together, but I also benefited a lot from Adobe Photoshop. Using Photoshop, I was able to remove the background of images and change the colours of certain graphics to fit the others. I was also able to create the credit block with all the names in Photoshop. I used Illustrator to place everything together and align things to create a symmetrical poster.
During this process, I learned a lot about juggling the use of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. At first, it was hard to keep track of what I was working on for each application. But with more practice, I found that the two programs working together are very powerful. In Illustrator, you have the ability to right-click directly on an element of art and edit it in Photoshop. Learning this sped up my process and helped me organise my work so much more easily.

This book cover follows the same storyline as the movie poster. I created this cover using Adobe InDesign, which I have had some experience with in the past. I chose elements that best matched the story of my book and combined them to create a checkerboard cover. This project was a great way to expand on an idea and to add more to the project.

Reflection
Being in Design has been one of the most beneficial experiences I’ve had. Not only have I learned to manage multiple difficult software systems, but I have also learned a lot of insight into art and life itself. My teacher always reminds us, “design is in everything”, and the more I look around the world, the more I see it. I have valued the experiences of being able to learn and understand the meaning of art from this class. Before Freestyle, especially design, I had never thought of art as highly as I do now. Design has opened my eyes to endless possibilities and taught me that there’s creativity in everything and everyone.
