Multi-Layered Art Project
The Multi-Layered Art Project was an amazing experience to practice my practical skills. Being in Freestyle, a lot of the work is digital, so having a mix of digital and a hands-on projects inspired more creativity. We were given multiple options on what sort of multi-layer product we wanted to design, and the one that sparked my interest the most was Stacked Wood Art.
In our English class, we were assigned a very complex and difficult project. We were required to design a world entirely from scratch and tie it to a current issue in today’s world. We then brought that idea into Digital Media to create a 3d object. My art encapsulates the idea behind my story that there is a darker version of everyone, whether they hide it or not. I first sketched an original idea on paper, and slowly, that idea came to life. The most difficult part was designing a digital version of my drawing in Adobe Illustrator, so it could be cut out by the laser printer correctly. Seeing my project develop more when I was handed my box with wood pieces was an incredible experience—being able to hold my art in my hand and glue it all together to create a 3d physical product and display it. Using After Effects, I created an interesting time-lapse video of the process of creating this. I was not that experienced with PremierPro, but the more I worked with it, the more I discovered how many great features it had that I could use.

Funny Images
This was a fun project to start the unit and get used to editing in Adobe Photoshop. I was already familiar with Photoshop through my Design elective, so this project was an exciting opportunity to do something surreal and new. I chose a surrealism approach because the assignment was to have a humour behind the image and I feel like those topics fit together well.
