The Narrative Unit was all about story telling through various mediums. At Freestyle, we practiced story telling by writing, drawing, and either creating a film or short animation. In English, we focused on the story itself and the characters' motives and internal conflicts, and how that affects them. Our photo narratives for Design had us consider how we could show evidence of all the characters' thoughts and conflicts through imagery and representation. For Web/Audio, we spent multiple weeks learning Adobe Flash and how to make a short animation based on our story, making it come to reality.
Available on the pages I created, it shows everything I've made, from storyboarding to creating my animation. Both my projects from Design are up as well along with my English story. The start of it all would be my graphic novel, adapted into my short story, later into my photo narrative, and animation.
This unit definitely helped me improve on my story telling skills, making me see there's definitely more than one way to tell a story. Every time you tell a story through a different medium, the meaning of it could even change into something new, creating another story.
