Stranger

Stranger

In this week’s photo challenge, we were prompted to tell the story of a stranger through a photograph. While most people would picture a “stranger” as a person they don’t know, I wanted to challenge the notion that only humans can have backstories. Sculptures, paintings, and statues have a story and exist exactly like humans do: warped by the memories of their constructors and influenced by their viewers. So I chose this sculpture residing in the Columbia University campus, because to me, this statue is as much of a stranger in my life as a random person I see on the street.
