10 Things I Have Learned In My Life So Far — Podcast

I started the project in English when I thought of the top ten life lessons that I have learned in my life so far. The goal was to create personalized beliefs or lessons that were not cliché. I then implemented my lessons into web/audio by creating a podcast in GarageBand. Using Freestyle's professional recording studio, I recorded my introduction, and ten lessons. Next, I made a picture to represent each of the lessons to enhance the podcast with visuals. I made each picture by compositing pictures together from the web, and by adding personalized text using Photoshop. As a final touch I synced my voice to music that I made off of the Aviary website.

Hello, my name is Davis Brown.
Here are the top 10 life lessons I have learned in my life so far.

Number one, every challenge in life is like a quest with a bounty of rewards.
Number two, time goes by fast so make the best of it.
Number three, food tastes better deep-fried.
Number four, making mistakes is the best way to get better at something.
Number five, questions lead to answers.
Number six, work with others who share your same interest.
Number seven, staying active is the best way to energize your life.
Number eight, don't let people step on you.
Number nine, complaining changes nothing.
Number ten, never give up never surrender.

Artist Statement

The process of making a podcast is an interesting and new experience for me. In the past I have only used GarageBand for simple school projects or movies, but I never recorded my voice in a professional studio, or added in modified pictures. When I first saw the recording studio I was amazed at how professional and high quality the equipment was. As I recorded my voice with the Snowball microphone, I envisioned myself as a famous rap artist like Eminem or a radio host. I tried to sound enthusiastic and keep my voice as clear as possible.

Creating photos and adding text-using Photoshop is a relatively common practice for me, because I have been using it for a few years now. However, in this project, I expanded my skill level by compositing photos instead of taking them straight off of Google images. I also tried to make the pictures more attractive and pleasing to all viewers.
