Reflections

Final Mandala Product

For the Reflections unit we were encouraged to exercise introspection through various mediums such as digital drawings and videos. When creating my mandala in Digital Media I was able to draw outside the lines, figuratively and physically for there were no lines to begin with. In English I enjoyed taking the time to figure out what my core values are in addition to how they connect to the passions I pursue. At first I felt inclined to choose values that I thought others would value, quickly realizing that that defeated the whole point of the exercise. In Film I was able to demonstrate my anxiety when making a phone call even though I struggle with it internally. I revised my project from scratch a month later which allowed me to improve it after getting feedback.

In school I have tended to follow rules and instructions exactly, but in this unit I was able to take more creative liberty. During this unit I learned how rules are but a figment of the mind. In the past when I work I would set certain guidelines and expectations for myself, yet in this unit I realized that they weren’t always necessary. I may have initial ideas for where I want my project to go, but that doesn’t have to mean that will be my end product.

I was very happy the day I could bring my laser engraved mandala home.
