About this project
For the Humor unit, students were challenged to study comedic works from various humorists an implement the comedy techniques to an individual performance/project.
For this project, I decided to create a comic strip about the personality traits within a friend group. Lately, I have been seeing a lot of content on social media where people find things like zodiac signs and personality tests entertaining as they can easily relate to and compare themselves to the provided descriptions. So, I wanted to make a comic strip with a similar topic while also using humor techniques including caricature, situational humor, and blue humor.
I was first inspired by the children’s book, the Little Miss Collections, which I believe many people are familiar with. I remembered how each of the characters in the book had unique and different personalities, and I wanted to incorporate those characteristics to my comic strip. I was also inspired by the format of the Peanuts comic strips. I wanted to incorporate the simplicity of the stories illustrated in the Peanuts series, especially since many of the stories focus on the interactions between each of the characters.
