For this prompt, I chose to portray the sin of pride, to represent one of the seven deadly sins. Pride can be both grand and subtle, so I aimed to create a simple yet meaningful image. To symbolize pride, I used awards, certificates, and a medal, items that represent accomplishments people are often proud of. However, pride can also lead to arrogance, where individuals feel superior or more important than others. By showing off my awards, I wanted to represent how some people might use their accomplishments to look down on others who don’t have the same recognition.
As for how I took this picture, I used a mirror and pointed it at the awards. I took the photo through the reflection so the medal looks shiny and grabs attention. The mirror also adds a deeper meaning; It shows how pride is about self-reflection and sometimes getting too caught up in yourself.
