Hi, my name is Isaac Lui. For the past two years, I have been a dedicated student of Freestyle Academy, taking classes in Film, Digital Media, and English. Thanks to my time at Freestyle, a had been exposed to many forms of creative media and technology, which eventually lead to my decision to major in Film Production at Purdue University (around West Lafayette, IN). With the support of my teacher and fellow students, I began to develop my own style as a grew to understand the various technological resources I would be using in the future.
Outside of Freestyle, I like listening to music, role playing stories with my friends, gaming on my computer and various consoles, and watching all kinds of movies and television shows. I am especially interested in creative writing, crafting all sorts of narrative that excite people with action, drama, and in-depth storytelling. Everyday, there is always a brand new idea in my head that I have to write down. Sometimes, these stories come to life into my work, as such with my Zenith project.
I hope that during my time at Purdue, I hope to find my place within the film industry as I grow my skills and look ahead towards a bright future.
My Showcase video is more than just a resume for professional reviewers, it is an expression of what I want to do, what I seek to learn and improve upon, and reflect my experience at Freestyle Academy.
The Reel video is sort of a sequel or continuation of my Showcase video, as I now literally reflect the past two years, from small assignments that taught me new film techniques (such as the use of suspense in film), to large assignments that practiced those techniques and brought long term lessons at the end (such as my Narrative, Documentary, and Zenith projects).
Over the years, I grew to understand how much hard work a person in the film industry puts in, which matured how I treated filmmaking as a profession. Additionally, even my required classes of English and Digital Media improved my writing skills & mindset and taught my the basics and tricks of creative project applications through Adobe products respectively. Digital art can come into many forms, whether live action like film, or through unique graphic designs in various forms. A picture can tell a thousand stories after all.
