Narrative Perspective — Digital Media

For the 3D art project, I chose to do a lightbox art. I chose this project because I thought it would be a fun challenge to make a 3D artwork using paper. When I looked at the previous works done by Freestyle students I saw a lot of really cool spooky concepts that they were able to make with the lightbox as well, which helped further my decision to do lightbox since I wanted to do something kinda mysterious or spooky. Originally I decided to try to create a graveyard scene, and to use
green lights behind the artwork to give the emotions or feeling I want to create. Now that I’ve had more time to think about it I chose to draw something slightly more whimsical with this big winged giant on top of a hill.

My inspiration for this project was to create an art piece with a whimsical fantasy vibe. For this I tried to use concepts from such tv shows as Hilda, Gravity Falls, and Over the Garden Wall. AS much as I love my art project, I think in the future I would try to either have more layers or within the amount of layers I already have, try to have more detail. I think that my biggest challenge or struggle was my shaky hands when drawing these layers. I wanted to draw each of the lines myself by hand and not use rulers or straight lines already created in Illustrator. And so me drawing all the individual drawings lead to them being a little shaky at times. But all in all I really love it. I think for future projects I will want to make other art work with the same fantasy whimsical theme because I found it to be really fun to create.
