Introduction

“How can I use unconventional forms to express myself?”
This project is made through my numerous experimental and creative projects that are different from what your used to seeing. I challenged myself to think outside of the box and make projects that are one of a kind. Over the last semester I have learned/expanded my experience with modern equipment and applications that could help grow my resume. These products include DSLR Cameras, Tascam Audio Recorders, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, Adobe Dreamweaver, Avid Pro Tools, WordPress, and Google Apps.

What do I value about being a freestyle/English/Digital Media student?

I value to community we have here at freestyle. Everyone is friendly and a big family. I love how freestyle is nothing like traditional school! It gives me a break in the day to have fun and learn new things! I love how projects are interconnected and our skills we learn here can truly be used later on in life!

The Photo Haiku

In the Photo Haiku unit everyone got a very unique and broad intention statement we all had to create a haiku. A Haiku is a short 3 line Poem that is syllable based. We would later take a photo to provide more emotion for our poem and make a video with emotion altering music with it. My intention statement was the following :The feeling of insecurities through lying to a authority figure.

I valued the Photo Haiku project a lot! I liked the creativity I get to have when creating the picture and poem. It was challenging having to think outside the box to think of a poem that was not too literal with my intention statement. I thunk the project came out pretty well tho.

The Free verse poem

The poetry unit was a fun unit! We got to go away from all the guidelines and make a free verse poem purely of our own creativity! In English we came up with the poem meanwhile in Digital Media we got to create a picture for the poem and integrate them.

Intention Statement

“It was a beautiful Sunday morning,” is a free verse sound poem about my experience at my first golf tournament. I vividly described the sounds and feeling I undergo during that time and try to help the audience feel the same feeling I was. The speaker in this poem me the writer who is hitting a golf ball on the first whole in the early morning. The speaker goes through many different emotions and I try to show that through the poem. I use punctuation like exclamation marks to try to share the excitement I was going through and periods to explain not as exciting times for me. I took motivation from my job at a golf course hearing these first couple of swings in the morning as the sun rises. I mainly wrote this about the first golf tournament I was in and it was a truly surreal experience for me actually hitting a good shot with all the pressure of people watching me. I use words like “Smack, Slam, Bang!” to illustrate the sounds I was hearing that morning and the feeling you could get from hearing these sounds! The most helpful feedback I received focused on was splitting different lines to add suspense and instead of describing that it was a golf course in the begging adding it in later to add a sense of mystery. I really like how my partners helped me change the poem for the better and how much better it sounds now! I also adjusted capitalization and punctuation in order to exaggerate some words like the sound words.

I enjoyed making different types of poetry in this unit! We made various types of poem and that happened to b my final product! I got to try different photo’s and and type of font to go with the poetry to help go with it! I enjoyed being able to relate the poems to my real life!

Photoshop Blend Mode Editing

I think Photoshop blend modes are good for lighting/ darkening photos but bad for blending 2 photos together. I value the ease of lighting photos using photoshop blend modes.

Photoshop blend modes are a way of combining two photos together for a given purpose. It is defiantly a good skill to know on Photoshop. I would continue to use Photoshop blend modes to light photos for later projects!

Film Class

Film class is awesome! I have learned too much, From the rule of thirds to the 180 degree rule. I will never see films the same from my knowledge i have now and the knowledge I will gain over the next year and a half! I have got to make many exciting films so far but i will only show you a few!

The Experimental film!

My experimental film synopsis (my description of the film I was going to create!)

Insecurities through lying to an authority figure

My film is gonna be a first person view of a person drinking and smoking in  a dark one light lit room. Drink/bottle in one hand , cigarette in the other. The subject will be slowly drinking more and more while vision gets blurred and starts to sway. Meanwhile, the movie will have sudden cuts to 2 other objects in the subject’s hand that might bring the subject back to happier times, this could include a soda and a liquorices, and or other objects that could add emoticons and reminiscing into my movie. While there are sudden cuts every 20 seconds or so while the subject drinks more, the picture of the fantasy world will get more and more abstract. This could look like a weirder object in the subject’s hand, brighter colors, weirder settings. These types of shots will get quicker and quicker as the subject gets more drunk. Swaying will increase, blurry effect while becoming stronger. There will be a heart rate sound effect in the background that slowly gets fast to increase the dramatic effect in my film. This will all end with the first fantasy clip and jump cut back to the drunk scene with the subject falling to his knees in desperation and sadness. In my film the authority figure is oneself and their self pity for what they have done to themselves again. This Film means a lot to me because I relate so much to drugs and alcohol. One of my closest mentors is an ex alcoholic and drug attic but I have seen him in this situation before and in and out of rehab. On top of that my step brother died a couple years ago at 27 of a drug overdose. I hope to share my emotions and feelings towards drugs and alcohol to my peers so maybe they might get a message from this and might be able to see for the first time what someone might actually go through that were in this situation.

Although this Synopsis is close to my final take I did change a lot after writing this!

I changed a lot of the static shots i was going to have to make the video more visually pleasing! I took inspiration from the Classes ideas on my daily’s (Raw footage), and on what Mr.Taylor suggested!

Additional Work-

The Chase Scene

In this solo project I was tasked to create a Chase scene where one person is chasing another. We wanted to add as many shots as possible! I love the way it turned out!

Doublemint Assignment

Watch me!

In the Doublemint Assignment Eric and I were tasked to make a video where there is 2 of the same person one shot! This is what I created!

The First Project! – The Scavenger hunt group project

Watch me!

In this project m group and I were tasked to get as many different shots as possible to learn what we could create! This was a quick 2 day project that everyone in the group took part in editing!
