Photo Blog 14: Center frame Portrait

ISO-100, f/5.6, 1/500 sec

The goal of this photo was to create a sense of loneliness. And I did that by using a center frame portrait, which surrounds the subject in so much negative space it feels lonely. And also, wooden beams are typically seen in groups to constructure something. But this beam is alone, not part of some larger purpose.

Reflecting on this photo, I think the water makes it too relaxing. Instead of the beam feeling lonely, it feels like it’s at peace. Because water is something people associate with calmness.
