This triptych shows three different product mockups for the company Cha Lemon Tea. The main product is the canned lemon tea, and the tote bag and gift bag are separate merchandise and packaging. The logo is of a smiling lemon character jumping against a green background. The lemon tea lines of text are curved around the lemon logo and there are light green lemon polka dots in the background.

To create the logo, I started with a moodboard and decided to make a lemon character with a happy expression. I then sketched logo variations with different expressions and arm and leg positions. I imported the sketch into Illustrator where I made different shapes to be parts of the lemon. For the label, I added a background and text for the product name, weight, ingredients, and website. On the Placeit website, I uploaded the image onto a can mockup. For the tote and gift bag, I made the designs similar to the can label and rearranged and resized them, then made the mockups. I used green, brown, and yellow colors to go with the earthy tea color palette. One challenge was getting the facial expression and arms and legs to look natural. It took many redraws to get them right and I am happy with how they turned out. To get the lemon’s face to have more contrast against the lemon slice, I made a gradient from yellow on the outside to white in the middle.

Artist Statement:

The “movie” Chasing Midnight is based on the story and world my partner Lindsay and I created for our narrative treatment in English class. In the story, the main character, Rhea, is a kitchen worker inadvertently on a luxury space station. She finds out the spacecraft has lost all communication with Earth, including a source of resources, and is forced to build trust with an ally and work to stockpile supplies, stay alive, and get out before order collapses.

The inspiration for the poster comes from trying to communicate the awe of seeing the vastness of space. I imagine this is a scene the characters might see looking out the window of the space station. I used Adobe Photoshop to combine images of stars moving and the moon, then altered the colors to go for a more purple-toned color palette.
