For this shot, I decided to do an up-close shot of my subject, on a table. Rather than shooting it from above, I put the camera at the same level as the phone and pencil, to give my shot more depth, with more background visible, compared with just a table. Then in photoshop, I tweaked the point of focus, adding a light blue to the corners.
