Introduction

“Who am I,” was the simple et difficult question we were tasked with solving as we went through this project. The goal of these lessons was to get back into the work flow of freestyle for us 2nd year students, and first year students. A story many of the teachers have old us when this project was a junior year one, was that when giving this assignment to first year students they recognized that these students still, in their junior year reaching adulthood, still did not know who they were. therefore, they pushed it back to senior year. Safe to say, junior year me would have no clue where to start with the question, and even when they assigned it at the vert start of this year, I was will extremely aphrenrsive. I can to a conclusion, as you will see through al the projects I made, both in new and old classes, that I was many different things that came together.

B&W Mandala

Mandala Colored Mandala

In this assignment we were told to make a Mandala that would show our identity, I chose to make this Mandala this way to emphasize how much we, myself in particular, can bury our feelings or emotions, even the best ones, out of fear of being shamed. I titled it Buried as the emotions and imagery in the drawing are literally buried one on top of the other.

Some details I wanted to emphasize as I made this mandala was creating several layers, horizontally, that felt completely separate and difficult to compare to one another, the idea I had coming into it was layering it like how people imagine heaven, earth, and hell are layered on one another, or how the world itself is layered…or how onions are layered. At the top are waves, and I wanted to start with the top layer being a terrible ocean to show something literally below the surface with the rest of the art.

As an artist I liked how easy the process could be, only requiring a few movements of the brush to create shapes, but I also enjoyed making the process as intentional and purposeful as possible, to create a vision people could hopefully see.

The coloring is all representative of both, my favorite colors and those around me. I have a strong affinity and love for greens, oranges, and purples and wanted to include them as much as possible. A goal of mine was that as you get closer and closer to the center, there is more intensity in the colors and the contrast between them. I chose the central color as a super light tan for those who focus more intensely on it. At a glance the center may look white but once you fully focus there is indeed still color- life- within.

English

Personal Essay

In English for our first major assignment of the year we wee tasked with writing a personal essay. The goal of this essay was to both describe us as a person and or core values, as well as being a possible essay we could use in college applications. above is the most current version of my essay.

I think what I tried to do with my essay was to create a story which demonstrtaed capablities a college would want in their applicants, but also demonstrate personal values and desires which would furhter people’s understanding of who I am. Even if people do not know who I am, they should get an idea from my Personal Essay. I decided to go for an overarching narrative, one which combined what I viewed at the most improtant parts of my idenitty, family, friends, culture, with actions I preformed to keep those things togehter and to keep me going as a person. Overall I really enjoyed this project as it ,as many of these other projects, made me grasp a better understanding of myself.

Animation

In Animation, a class I had just joined, our goal was to learn and use 3d techniques to create unique settings. Something I enjoyed about this lesson was was that eevryone in animation regardless of previous experience was general new to 3d animation, meaning that though I joined the class in my senior year we were able to make similar progress

Table Scene

The first full scene we first worked on was the Table Scene. the goal of this scene was to learn how to create detailed scenes with few actual shapes placed. I think that this project was extremely enjoyable to work on, as on a table you can often have various objects shapes ad sizes. i chose a cup, bow, plate, and other objects with similarly simple shape. in ay we learned how to reder, and then export into ZBrush.

The second scene we made as the weapon.

one important factor of the introduction into Zbrush was the extremely low polygon count of the original project, we learned how to divide the project into enough polygons to make general changes, as well as smaller details, within ZBrush. What I enjoyed about this art of the project was the way it felt like typical sculpting, and molding, which made the experience more and more interesting and engaging

The final stretch of these first projects was to add paint and texture into the object. i wanted to create an aesthetic model with lots of different objects in order to practice the combination of a sorts of different textures.
