Zenith

Intro

While freestyle doesn’t work as a traditional style of school, we still do have our own form of a final, and in our elective classes, this is called our Zenith project. Zenith as a word related to the highest point in something, usually the sky or in some certain skill or a person could be considered in their zenith as in their prime. The project itself, to me, was an opportunity to demonstrate both skills I had learned previously at freestyle that I am most passionate of, as well as ones of my own, and ones I hadn’t even explored yet, to make a fulfilling project.

Because of all of this, I concluded that the best possible enter for this project would be Stop Motion, which was part of the focus for my Exploration project last year. I wanted to, however, do something with a focus on details I had cared less about previously, such as design appeal, and more practical editing techniques, incorporating both my Film skills and Animation ones. The big risk of this project was really diving headfirst into skills I did not feel confident in, such as, as will be seen later, design and sewing.

Creation

Here are photos, with added context for each, which i think represent every week of the project

Week 4: This is the week where I probably did the least stressful work, as it was all part of what I was familiar with. Using Dragon Frame, I took photos and did the stop motion processor for the character, then in post I removed unnecessary frames and completed my project.

Conclusion

Overall, this project was an extremely satisfying piece of work. while I was not able to create a piece that was extremely elaborate, I was able to make a project using a lot of the skills I have learned in the past two years, bringing it together into one really good project which is part of the intention of the Zenith. I would say that I wish I could’ve had more time to create an even more expansive piece of media, however I feel as though the process itself was extremely engaging and the combination of old, yet also some very new skills, was super fun. I hope that in the future I get to use all the skills I have learned at freestyle, which have made me a more hardworking, mature, and improved person.

Thak you Freestyle.
