The conceptual unit was a good introduction into how to use tools to unconventionally express oneself. The tools we used were DSLR Cameras, Tascam Audio Recorders, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Animate, Adobe Premiere Pro Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition, Avid Pro Tools, WordPress, and Google Apps.

In film, I have learned how to use different angles and shots to represent chaotic feelings. In English I have learned how to use words to convey deep, emotional struggles, and I have also learned how to better analyze words, and phrases that authors use to convey their own emotional struggles. In digital media I have learned how to use photos, audio, and video to represent different emotions and feelings I have.

Poem Photo and Recording

Blue Goggles

The poetry unit was introduced in English, but even when we had finished up on poetry in English, we were still working on turning the words we used into audio files, and images in digital media.

This screenshot shows the pro tools session that I used to edit the audio for my poem.
This is a screenshot of the photoshop page where I was editing my poem photo.

Haiku Through Photo and Video

In our English class at Freestyle we had an assignment to create a haiku based on topic we drew out of a hat. In Digital Media we adapted the haiku from just words on a page to a video, and a photo, that metaphorically represent our haikus.

Premiere Pro is the application we used to edit the video for our haiku. Here is what it looks like.

The photo haiku project was very good for learning how to use the camera to take good photos. It also taught me further how to use Adobe Premiere Pro to use key-framing to move text, and edit video. It was also good to use my brain more to creatively think about concepts that aren’t completely apparent.

Elements & Principles of Art

The purpose of this early assignment in Digital Media was to teach us students how to think like an artist and use terms like Value, Space, Shapes, and Balance, to describe art.
