The Real Shot is Before the Show

A group of dancers in black and white uniforms run onto a basketball court before they begin their performance.

Before the Homecoming Dance Spectrum performance I asked my sister when would be the exact moment that all the dancers run on stage. I got in position 2 minutes before their cue in order to frame this perfectly. So when the dancers were announced on the big speaker, I held down the shutter button as they all run onto the court, and got this shot. My favorite part about this shot is it captures the thrill of running on stage to dance with the movement of everyone in the middle and right third. Plus it also shows the excitement of the performers by capturing the expression of the dancer on the left third.

If I were to do it again, I would have lowered my shutter speed and raised my ISO, because its a little noisy and I think a slight amount of blur on the running dancers would add more movement to the photo. I also would have lowered my aperture to focus on the emotion of the main subject, with the movement of the other dancers slightly out of focus.
