A Rocky Start with a Rocky Solution
When my sister and I walked down to the shore with my camera, I had fully intended on using the water to reflect the light from the sunset. But when we arrived, I realized the water was way too bubbly to reflect the sun into the lens. So I looked around the shore to find another way to make the shot interesting, so I found this patch of smooth rocks that were extremely reflective. So I helped my sister step into the middle of the rocks without hurting herself. We stood there waiting for the water to come close on the left side, and then after about 2 minutes, the waves perfectly wrapped around the rocks so I could get the color of the water plus the reflection of the rocks, and here is that photo.
If I were to take this photo again, I would have raised the aperture to be higher. I would keep my shutter as it is because I like the detail in the water, but I think the ISO can go higher to give the photo a higher depth of field. But I am very glad that I didn’t do the reflection off of the water because I think the wet rocks gives a much more unique look that not every beach sunset photo has, especially since they only lie where my subject is and nowhere else on the beach.
